How To: Crochet a left handed basket

Materials Needed: - Use a Size K Crochet Hook - 2 strands of 4 Ply Yarn Round 1: Start with the Chain 4, then join and wrap. Pull a loop up. Work 12-Full Size Half Double loops through the loop. Then join in the beginning Half Double crochet. Round 2: Start with a chain (1 loop). then work 2-Half Double crochets, in each stitch around for a total of 24-Half Double crochet on round 2. At end of round 2 join in beginning Half Double crochet. Round 3: Start with a chain (1 loop). Do 1-Half Double crochet in each stitch around for a total of 24-Half Double crochets on round 3. At end of round 3, join at the beginning Half Double crochet. Round 4: Start with a chain (1 loop). Then work 2-Half Double crochets in each stitch around for a total of 48-Half Double crochets on round 4. At end of round 4, join at the beginning Half Double crochet. Round 5-15: Put a Half Double crochet in each Half Double crochet around, for a total of 48. Instructions for the Shell Edging for the Basket: Start with a chain one, then Single crochet, skip 2 stitches, then work a shell of 6 Double crochets. Now skip 2 stitches, then Single crochet in next stitch then skip 2 stitches, then do a Shell of 6 Double crochets. Do 2 stitches, then Single crochet in next stitch, then skip 2 stitches, then do a Shell of 6 double crochets and then continue around until you have 8 Shells for the edging. Then slip stitch crochet for last shell and secure the yarn, cut it and then pull it through. Basket handle: Start with a chain of 6. Then join and chain, and work 6 Single crochets through the loop. Now work the rest of the handle in a continual round. Now, 1 Single crochet, then 5 more, there will be a total of 6 Single crochet on each round. Now do 50 more rounds. Leave a long tail attached for the last round to use for sewing the purse to the handle. Align and attach, then make a secure knot and hide tail of yarn. Repeat for the other side of the purse.
